Massage is the most fundamental of all healing techniques. Massage is so basic to nature that we do it automatically From a physiological or mechanical engineering point of view, massage increases the lubrication between muscle fibers and allows the muscle to move optimally. Muscle fibers are designed to work independently of each other. When muscles dry out, or dehydrate, the fibers stick together and the muscle becomes stiff or ridged. As fluid is reintroduced, the muscle softens and regains its flexibility. As circulation increases between the muscle fibers, nutrients reach the cells and toxins are carried off more efficiently.
Acne has been treated using numerous modalities in the past, including topical solutions, Accutane, antibiotics and so on. We treat acne using a revolutionary process called Photodynamic Therapy.
Photodynamic Therapy involves a three-step process. First, microdermabrasion using Diamondtome is performed. Then a medication (Levulan) is applied to the skin. After one hour the face is treated with intense pulsed light. The combination produces changes in the skin and glands that not only significantly decreases acne, but also improves skin tone and texture, reduces pore size and reduces previous acne scarring. Typically, three sessions are performed one month apart. This process can be performed in all age groups and on most skin types. It is particularly effective in patients who have either failed to respond to Accutane or do not want to take Accutane due to systemic side effects.
Levulan Photodynamic Therapy is also an excellent alternative for treatment of acne. Patients of all ages can be treated with three monthly courses of PDT to achieve excellent acne reduction. We have used Levulan PDT as an alternative to Accutane treatment since Accutane has a number of systemic risks, including induction of depression, liver toxicity, production of malformed babies and others. Levulan PDT also reduces need for topical acne medications and oral antibiotics. It produces a very nice cosmetic appearance because treatment simultaneously reduces redness, decreases acne scarring and promotes collagen deposition to reduce acne pitting.

Lunch Time Peels
Men and women can choose from a variety of non-surgical procedures that can turn back the clock. The procedures discussed in this brochure were designed to reverse, improve or erase the earliest signs of aging such as wrinkles, fine lines and sun-damaged skin. They are often referred to as "Lunchtime Procedures" because they take very little time to perform and do not have any recovery period. They are called lunchtime procedures because you can improve various signs of aging in just a short period of time and return to your normal activities immediately. Your skin will have a healthy glow, age spots will lighten or disappear, wrinkles around the eyes and frown lines will be softened, and sagging skin can be improved. Patients love these procedures because they help slow down the appearance of aging. It's easier than ever before to look your best.
Microdermabrasion has become very popular with patients showing the early signs of aging, sun exposure and other facial imperfections. Non-invasive and non-wounding to the skin's surface, the procedure entails virtually no discomfort, down time or recovery. Patients typically experience some redness for about an hour after the procedure.
In addition to the face, microdermabrasion can be successfully used on the neck, arms and hands. It is also beneficial for patients with darker skin types.
This rejuvenation method is generally indicated for dull, oily or leathery skin texture, Contracting enlarged pores, exfoliating and suctioning clogged pores in acne cases, polishing and reducing fine lines, mild acne scarring, mild pigment irregularities, enhancing penetration of therapeutic agents.
Skin rejuvenation is a generalized term that covers the use of microdermabrasion, micro-peels, and at-home use of different types of skin products. Many of the products are similar in design to materials available at most cosmetic counters. It is the purity of the product, the supervision of its use, and the grouping of products and treatments to derive a maximal benefit for an individual patient's skin care needs that sets us apart from cosmetic counters and many salons.
Skin rejuvenation procedures improve the overall appearance of the skin by achieving a refreshed skin appearance and restoring elasticity. While they do not have the same effect as surgery, they can often prolong the time until a facelift is needed. To clarify, surgery takes away "sags and bags," while skin rejuvenation takes away "wrinkles."
